They turned out to be [. . .] the children of Jong Bhak, the director of the Personal Genomics Institute in Korea, and his American (Caucasian) wife. They were also the youngest members of the genome sequencing club. "We wanted to know how different two siblings can be," said Bhak. "Our hybrid kids can give us some easy confirmation on that. They are brothers, but their genetic makeup will be much more different from each other than any two random people in the same population."Nothing says "family" like "more different from each other than any two random people in the same population." In fairness, I'm not sure if Bhak is attempting to celebrate this fact, or merely acknowledging a reality that the vast majority of multiracialists no doubt fail to grasp.
Most bizarre rationale for creating racial hybrids I've yet come across
On the second-to-last page of The $1,000 Genome, Kevin Davies recounts noticing two small children running around at the GET (Genomes, Environments, Traits) Conference:
This is reminiscent of that utterly surreal article that was carried in a number of major papers a year or two ago, titled some variant of "Study Finds Blacks Genetically Superior To Whites". The writer's assertion, quoting some ultra-PC academic, was that black "genetic superiority" comes from their higher genetic diversity than whites.
ReplyDeleteThe article was seriously-written, seriously advancing this laughable claim of "genetic superiority". Laughable though it may have been, surreal as it may have been to those with any experience on the planet Earth, that article is of unquestionable Zeitgeist value, as it stated in outright terms what is usually only implied throughout postmodern Western culture.
The Korean guy clearly doesn't know much about genetics.
ReplyDeleteTwo full siblings, both Korean-Caucasian hybrids, are going to be more related to each other in genetics than he's making out.
It's like he's very badly garbling what Salter said in On Genetic Interests.
RE Anon,
ReplyDeleteI too am puzzled by the statement. After re-reading it several times, it's unclear to me what he is trying to say.
If these kids are full-siblings, they will of course be similar to each other.
Maybe what he was trying to say was: The white mother (e.g.) will be genetically closer to a random white on the street than to her own sons.
By the way, on the question of "intrapopulation genetic diversity as an unqualified great thing". The man cited in the OP by n/a is apparently arguing that, or so would go one interpretation of his remarks. And the laughably-PC article I refer to above argues it.
ReplyDeleteThis discussion explains why Africans have more genetic diversity. Highly recommended reading for those who believe in the Out-of-Africa theory, though do not bother reading if you are close-minded on the subject and will cling to OoA in the face of all counter-arguments.
The Philipines, India, Saudi Arabia, the Maghreb, Southern Europe, the Levant etc... Are filled with an endless horde of deranged and degenerate racial hybrids and what has it given us?
ReplyDeleteA bunch of pathetic mongrels like Alexandre Dumas's hyped endlessly by their fellow racial hybrids?
Northern Europe which is Pure White has the highest IQ, Northern Asia which is near Pure Yellow has an IQ that comes second after Northern Europeans.
Compare both to the near retards savage depraved half-negroes/half-negritos from Southern Asia and Southern Europe!
Racial hybrids are as worthless as the pure negro but only more degenerate and vile, which makes them more troublesome than the pure negroes.
The Southern Asians are a degenerated race of the Negritos who was tainted with Asian blood, the Southern Europeans are a degenerated race of the Negroes who was tainted with Aryan blood.
In the whole world the South Asians are by far the most repugnant of nature who have an appetite for perversity and morbidity which makes them more degenerate than the lowest of animals, in close second comes the South Europeans who have a taste for sadism and depravity that makes them more debauched than the lowest of savages.
Destroy these insufferable mongrels!
Northern Europe which is Pure White has the highest IQ, Northern Asia which is near Pure Yellow has an IQ that comes second after Northern Europeans.
ReplyDeleteFor one thing, Northern Europe is not "pure" White - since there is no such thing as pure *anything* - so stop talking like an uneducated retart on genetic.
This being said - there are such things as *relatively pure* races - and if you state it this way, I would agree that beautiful Northern Europe - at least up until the last 30 or so years - certainly would meet this criteria.
*Regarding your 'who has the highest IQ' claim - could you please provide evidence that the highest IQ's come from Northern Europe (certainly not *all* of N. Euros - since the Irish and Scots have some of the lowest IQ's in Northern Europe)...
After all, we are always told that the NE Asians and the Ashkenazi Jews purportedly have the highest mean averages.
*Oh, and one other thing - be sure and go see a psychiatrist, since your brooding, psychopathic hatred, no matter how you may "justify" it, is going to eat you up alive.
Destroy these insufferable mongrels!
ReplyDeleteMmm hmm, and just how do you plan on doing this?
Really, make an appointment to see that psychiatrist, since your head is going to explode like a giant pimple any moment now...
You said several times before you are from Scotland, so doesn't NHS (National Health Service) cover you guys on the government's dime like it does in England?
So really, you have no excuse as a 'British Islander' (lol) that you cannot afford health care, since it is free of charge. Nor can you use the excuse that you cannot afford a ride to see the doctor, since you can always catch a ride on one of these amply-spacious vehicles that can take you to the big house over in Aberdeen.
Hail and Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteEach sibling will share (identical-by-descent) around 50% of its DNA with the other sibling. But in terms of similarity across the diploid genome, the statement ("their genetic makeup will be much more different from each other than any two random people in the same population") should be accurate. Similarly, parents of mixed race children contribute half the child's DNA but overall are more genetically similar to a random member of their own population than to the child.
Salter didn't say the white mother of a Korean-white hybrid will be less related to her child than to a random white.
ReplyDeletePretty sure he said it for white-black hybrids and Australian Aborigine-black hybrids, not white-east Asian hybrids.
"Similarly, parents of mixed race children contribute half the child's DNA but overall are more genetically similar to a random member of their own population than to the child."
For one thing, not always.
For another, one thing doesn't follow from the other.
Hybrid full siblings are related in a different way than the parent of a hybrid and its child.

ReplyDeleteSounds like Afrocentric nonsense. If you ever want to explore the depths of human psychosis read some of that tripe.
It's no wonder they create dysfunctional societies, they don't perceive reality correctly.
One of the most bizarre rationales for creating hybrids I ever heard was a way to "exterminate" non-whites, by breeding with all of them, and this came from a racialist. It's absurd on so many levels.
ReplyDeleteRE Anon-#8,
ReplyDelete[Regarding the question of whether a white mother would be genetically closer to her own half-NE-Oriental/half-NW-European child, than she would be to a random NW-European.]
The concept of genetic distance has always been fuzzy to me, and to some extent can muddy the waters. You could be right that the bracketed statement above may not always be true (though it is always true for a mulatto born to a white mother, if I read you correctly?).
But consider it this way:
To be practical and not abstract for a moment: Every living, healthy, young human has the potential to bear children. Let's assume the woman in the above [bracketed] scenario is Danish. Now, which of the following has a higher chance of producing children that resemble the Dane woman?
A.) The woman's half-Dane/half-Korean child, or
B.) A randomly-selected Dane child -- totally unrelated to the woman in question -- whose line does not miscegenate?
I am interested in hearing your response.
"The concept of genetic distance has always been fuzzy to me, and to some extent can muddy the waters. You could be right that the bracketed statement above may not always be true (though it is always true for a mulatto born to a white mother, if I read you correctly?)."
ReplyDeleteI don't think it would always be true for a mulatto born to a white mother either.
A lot of Blacks are part white in America, and there's also the issue that east Africans like Obama's father are considerably more related to Europeans than West African Blacks.
It's at a razor's edge as it is that a mulatto born to a white mother is less related to her than a random white child as it is, even if the father is pure West African Black.
"To be practical and not abstract for a moment: Every living, healthy, young human has the potential to bear children. Let's assume the woman in the above [bracketed] scenario is Danish. Now, which of the following has a higher chance of producing children that resemble the Dane woman?

The woman's half-Dane/half-Korean child is going to be more related to her, though still far less related to her than if she had a child with a European father.
In terms of resemblance, that's a somewhat complex question.
Some traits correlate almost entirely with race, other traits correlate somewhat with race while having a large variation within each race.
On the first kind of trait the Danish mother will be more like a random Danish child, on the second she’ll be more like her half-Korean child due to the greater number of polymorphisms she’ll have in common with said child than with a random Dane.
The Danish mother would be more similar to an average Dane than her half-Korean child on the trait of having something like an epicanthic fold.
About 100% of Danes lack that, but a huge percentage of Korean-Danish children likely do have it.
But if I had to guess I’d say the Danish woman would be more like her half-Korean child than a random Danish child more often than not if you average out all the measurable traits.
The 50% chunk of the genotype that’s completely identical would be pulling the child very strongly in the direction of being similar to the mother, and while a very large portion of that similarity will be outdone by the other half of the genotype being from a population as variant relative to Europeans as Koreans are, I doubt it’s enough to undo the effect of the IBD portion on average.
But there’s still some question whether the Danish and Korean genes could interact in an unpredictable way, given that the populations have been separated for probably tens upon tens of thousands of years.
Really there’s no way to know for certain on the subject of resemblance.
Resemblance isn’t the same thing as relatedness.
Relatedness is easy to measure and has to do with genes, the entities upon which evolutionary selection acts.
Resemblance is different from relatedness, as can be seen in the fact that unrelated people often are similar to each other based on such things as chance or the phenomena of coevolution.
That’s part of what makes this question so hard to answer. The degree to which Koreans and Danes coevolved similar traits using different genetic building blocks is going to have a major impact on how much a Danish mother resembles her half-Korean child.
Really your question can’t be answered for certain without an actual study looking at half Danish and half Korean children.
But if I had to guess I’d put my money on the Danish mother being more similar to her half-Korean child on most traits.
"Salter didn't say the white mother of a Korean-white hybrid will be less related to her child than to a random white."
ReplyDelete"For another, one thing doesn't follow from the other."
I didn't refer to Salter, and I didn't claim "one followed from the other". That said, I'm not 100% sure I'm right. I'll have to think about it some more and maybe do some simulations.
