Last night was the first time I nearly got into a fight since... probably elementary school. Some dude and I were walking past each other in a not-so-crowded night club, and he bumped me with his shoulder. Not a body-check, but enough for me to have to respond -- you never let another guy touch you without touching back. [. . .]Expect the above-cited post to disappear eventually (as agnostic's hilarious self-portraits and fashion advice previously have).
Now we've both turned around to face each other and size one another up. He was about 3 inches taller than me, probably 40 - 50 pounds heavier, mesomorphic shape, and probably 5 - 8 years younger. He was South Asian [. . .]
With the energy high I was on, and having warmed up long before and already gotten into high gear, I could have easily jumped and planted my knees in that guy's gut 10 times in under 5 seconds. Shit, I could have climbed the walls if I wanted to. To signal this to him, I simply showed off my dancing skills, moving my whole body, taking up a lot of space, and making explosive moves with my limbs. Luckily, "Thriller" had just come on, so it was simple to get into the groove here.
He was very pissed off and stared at me for the better part of the song, and was talking to his buddy as well. Again, if sheer strength were all that mattered, he would've quickly moved in and started a fight. But by displaying my own physical prowess, albeit of a different type than his, as well as signaling emotional coolness (with a confident smile) and high status (by taking up lots of space without being encroached on), I shut him down.
On the subject of the least athletically-talented race on the planet, "Junior Unz Fellow" Newamul "razib" Khan gives a fair impression of Paul Reubens during a mediocre interview of Greg Cochran.
Why You Don't Show Off Before A Fight.

Haha.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, regarding some further idiocy in agnostic's post.
(1) The most dominant MMA fighter ever is not terribly distant from Finns racially.
(2) Anderson Silva vs. Ryo Chonan
Razib just oozes raw masculinity in that Cochran interview. He has an impressive lisp.
ReplyDeleteI love to see "agnostic" try and intimidate that south Asian through dance!yoh
I certainly wouldn't write the things Agnostic does if I worked with younguns and had put pictures of myself online AND wrote for a site targeted by One People's Project.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised by Razib's voice as well, but I thought it was one of the better diavlogs on bhtv. What source of high-quality interviews are you aware of that I've been missing out on?
The subject matter is interesting, but razib's interview (if you can call it that) technique and personal manner make it difficult to watch or listen to.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, reading between the lines of the latest VDARE fund appeal, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the "Unz Foundation" sheds a "junior fellow" in the not-too-distant future.
ReplyDeleteAgnostic's intimidation-by-dance anecdote is only one of a long line of his stories that don't ring true. The only other blog I've read with such dubious tales was one called "Plain Layne" - which has since been exposed as fiction.
ReplyDeleteHere's a picture of Mr. "physical prowess" himself. How intimidating!
Oh, I have no trouble believing agnostic frequents a teen dance club, or that the referenced post was inspired by actual events. But even if it happened exactly as written, what shines through most is self-delusion: agnostic -- who says he hasn't been in a fight since elementary school -- compares himself to Anderson Silva; imagines "[planting] my knees in that guy's gut 10 times in under 5 seconds" thereby instantly winning the fight (hint, agnostic: with your build, you're gonna need to aim for the balls if you expect to inflict any real damage with your knees on an adult); and determines that his show of dancing prowess successfully intimidated the desi into not attacking him, ignoring dozens of more probable interpretations of events (e.g., desi never intended to attack in the first place; or, desi would have attacked, but took the grinning and dancing as a dick tuck by agnostic; or perhaps desi thought agnostic was trying to flirt with him).
ReplyDeleteHere's a picture of Mr. "physical prowess" himself. How intimidating!Indeed. He looked even more intimidating showing off his coordinated designer outfits.
But even if it happened exactly as written, what shines through most is self-delusionI was struck by this aspect of it:"To signal this to him, I simply showed off my dancing skills, moving my whole body, taking up a lot of space, and making explosive moves with my limbs."
ReplyDeleteAnd:"But by displaying my own physical prowess, albeit of a different type than his, as well as signaling emotional coolness (with a confident smile) and high status (by taking up lots of space without being encroached on), I shut him down."
If he tried any of that around the Lebanese at clubs I've frequented a distinctly different "signal" would have been picked up and the following version of events would have ensued and been related:
"Hey listen, habib, me and Ahmed kicked the fuck out of this cunt last night at [venue]."
"Bullshit. What happened?"
"Ahmed's walkin' in front of me and this little scrawny shit bumps into him right and Ahmed turns around and looks at him and...{laughing}...the cunt starts dancin' at him. {Laughter all around.}"
"So what happened?"
"Yeah, shut up, listen. He's dancin' full on hard core, wavin' his arms around like a fuckin' idiot, and he's laughin' at us the whole time. Ahmed goes to me he's gonna smash him. He lines him up perfect and one punch he drops the cunt and we just start layin' boots into his head. Then we pissed off before the bouncers came."
Here is another hilarious post where "agnostic" boasts about how he intimidated a mestizo in a teen dance club and attracted a black girl as a result.
